i uploaded the pic of my latest japanese craft book. its the one i used to make the kitty.
i promised to uploaded a pic of my ugly wallet so here it is...
next time i will use my own pattern i think, to be truthful, i did screw up the directions. i used fusible web instead of sew in...so that kind of altered my options! i feel bad, because i REALLY love this fabric and i dont remember where i got it!
well its autumn now, yippee! i love the change in seasons. i cant wait to be able to wear warm comfy clothes again, dont you?
ok, i know i only have two people that read this, but in case you know anyone that can help me....i bought some thick faux fur to make a blanket for the daughters bed. i need help with the back. i dont know what kind of fabric i should use, and how to attach it. i think i can sew it on my machine, as its not overly thick. so help me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

oh my, did everybody get the email from hillary over at wee wonderfuls???
shes done it again! adorable little people!! i rushed right over and got my download. and of a course like the ninny i am, i closed the window before i downloaded the files, because you know i didnt actually read what i was suppose to do!!! (hand slapping head, yelling idiot, idiot!) if you havent gotten an email and you want to be hip and not miss the boat, check her out here wee wonderfuls so i have been needing to make myself a new wallet for awhile, and with school starting up i havent had the time. and i have had a few swap commitments i needed to take care of.so i was looking for a wallet tutorial i could use and came up with two that look hopeful, so i am going to attempt them tonight and i will come back and let you know how it went! oh here is the coin wallet tutorial makewrite and here is a link to the wallet tutorial heather . if you make any please show me and i am sure they would love to see a pic of your wallets too! back in a bit!
yikes!! well i attempted the wallet, and it um, er, ah didnt turn out quite right. i am too tired from messing with it to post a pic now, i will post the hideous creature tomorrow. i dont know what happened but i ended up with an open seam on top, so tomorrow i will be traveling to ms. joanns to get some seam binding for it(which of course i have never used before so this really should turn out pretty (read, heavy sarcasm). good nite!
oooh the new catalog is out with some prettiesanthropologie check it out!
well here is my kitty finally! i have been wanting to make her for about a week now. got some really cute faux suede for her, but it was a bear to work with. i hurt myself a number of times with the needle. i made her from a japanese craft book. it is in my japanese craft library under no name. its the one with the little bear on the left hand bottom corner. it has some really cute patterns in there.
this is the kitty after i finished her, she doesnt have a name yet. i made her ears with a cute retro pink fabric and her collar is pink velvet ribbon with a little brass heart tag. i think she turned out well except her ears are crooked. but of course you cant see that in the pictures!!! oh and i think i put her tail on backwards!! in the pix in the book the curl goes the other way, oh well. i still like her.
cute close up, felt eyes with blue buttons on top. embroidered nose. she looked rather like a cow when i was making her until she had a face
i finished the donuts too, but wasnt sure if i should put up so many pix in one post......but i guess i will so i can stop writing about them!! so here they are, none of the pix i took show the sprinkles too well, so i just decided to put them in a stack. wouldnt it be cute to make a box to put them in??i even was joking with my daughter about making a felt cup of duncan donuts coffee!! whether i will or not..

the daughter had two different commitments today, so there wasnt much time for crafting. i was able to sew on some beads on the donuts last nite, but didnt finish them. so no pix.
today was dreary with rain and cold. i guess fall is here in illinois!

well today was a good day. i was able to straighten out the art room a bit and put away all my fabric! whew! so here it is. its funny, when i buy beads, i seem to buy a lot of purple beads. not that i ever use them on anything. i just love purple beads. i dont own any clothes that are purple either. but beads, i seem to love buying um' in purple. as i was sorting my fabric by colors i noticed i only have 3 purples!!! as you can see my piles are reds, pinks, oranges and yellows, black, greens, and blues. i put my three lowly purples on top of pinks, ( cause' my daughter told me i should put them there). the middle row is fabrics in larger cuts and the bottom is too. the top shelf is my felt. wow, i even bored myself with that.zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz huh, wha???
this cupboard holds, you guessed it, my felting supplies and ribbon jars. i wont bore you with the details, but suffice it to say, i am a happy camper!
oh, as for my bugle bead foray, it did not go well. i went to way too many stores looking for the darn things and all i could find were shiny metallic looking ones, not very authentic looking sprinkles for donuts. i am still going to try them . i will post a pic so you can tell me how bad they look! oh i met a friend at one of the stores and she had graciously brought me some pretty silver, bronze and gold ones, so i will be trying those too, thanks pen, your a doll...stay tuned...hehe
September 9
well i dont know if this will work out or not, but here goes. i have been reading all these wonderful blogs and wanted to join in the fun.
so i am starting today, with this photo of quail eggs. we have two button quail and just this week, pearl has started to lay eggs. i dont know if they will hatch or not, because we arent sure asia is a boy! but so far only one egg a day, so i am thinking most likey there is one of each. i went to the store today and got nesting material and a little nest to see if she would lay the egg in there. but she has been laying late in the day, so who knows??? i will post if it works.
right now i am playing with making felt donuts. i made two already but my sis already laid claim to one. i need to get some pastel bugle beads for sprinkles, as i want to do a pink frosting with sprinkles donut. i will post a photo later if i can remember.
i will also try to post a link of the day, some place fun i have fallen upon. yes, this might just turn out okay.
ok, really it isnt my first one, my sis took that one. to be honest i dont know why she picked it. the inside seam was all wonkily. the directions i had said to cut into the center a 1/4" and tuck it in as i went. ugh!!! so i tried it differently the second time and just sewed it together with a whipstitch and it turned out nicer, dont you think?
