i just wanted to add this link before i forgot. ornamenta they have all kinds of pretty felt beads and roving, so go check it out!
well today was a good day. i got to go to the antique mall like i had hoped.and found way too many good things
sooo this is what i got. four tins. the littlest one is snuff, but i liked that it was holiday colors. the one on the bottom said fudge tin, its really thin, like about an inch!!! i love the colors on the two top ones! arent they gorgeous???
then i got two sweet little plates for on the wall. i like that they smack of scandinavian charm!!! i also got a sheet of old wrapping paper and a snipper of two snowpeople. i just love those old illustrations and this one is definately a keeper. the kitties are an apron. i was thinking of my daughter when i got this but i think i may just be sporting this badboy come cookie making time.so this is my button (and buckle) haul. arent they just too purty for words?? i cant believe how lucky i got. that one red one is HUGE. and i am always on the lookout for yellow ones, there never seems to be
yellow ones. i wonder why??
so has everyone seen the latest issue of CUTTING EDGE? they did an interview with hillary lang of wee wonderfuls. AND she included the sweetest little ornie pattern for us. wasnt that sweet?? and on the page opposite hillarys ornies is an awesome wreath i think i may be making in the days ahead, just need a little time....
this is what i did tonight! i saw this online somewhere, geez i cant remember right now, but i will look and see.she gives directions, and they are really easy to follow. i went over to my girleys house with another friend and we played with them. this is how mine turned out. aint it purty???i am thinking of making some of these as gifties for some online friends.....do you think they will likey???
well yesterday was turkey day and i thoroughly enjoyed myself! i didnt leave the house all day except for a tiny excursion to the bp across the street for an iced tea and a cheese danish!! i manage to almost complete a purse during the day. its made out of a skirt again, but this was from the dd not a thrift store. and it came with its own lining!!! it had one of those little pair of shorts on the inside.
so, here it is. the dd says it looks sailorish. i had a bit of problem with the pockets.
i had to take one out and move it up. its still kind of too long. but i am pleased with how it turned out. i made a little pin for it, as it seemed to be lacking something. its just fabric and felt and a vintage button. gotta love vintage buttons!! matter of fact i am going to the local antique mall tomorrow to just sit in a booth on the floor and spend as much time as i want digging thru their bins of old buttons. if i think of you i will try and bring my camera so you can see the binny loveliness!! oh one last thing. i got a brass chandelier off of freecycle and i wanted to show you it before we tarted it up. the hubby is going to paint it antique white for me, then i will be putting some of those adorable little shades on it. i dont know if i will do anything to the shades or if i will put on some little wreathy things or what..i am going to wait until i see it painted and with the shades to figure that out, but i thought i would show you.....
not the prettiest thing...but one day with a little luck it will become a swan!
i have told a number of people that i am wanting to get rid of some things i have,as i am no longer interested in doing collage, so i really have no use for these, but its hard to let go. the photos show didnt cigar boxes i have, i just grouped them together like this for ease of photo taking. so by all means let me know which ones you would like...i would love any kind of sewing related stuff and/or you can just pay postage.
the little photo shrine is also something i no longer feel compelled to keep for that project that is never going to happen. there are also a few other things here too, just scroll down!

did i ever mention how much i love ikea??? well i do! went there last friday and i am so lazy with uploading pix that it took me awhile, but here they are...my goodies. i needed some storage containers for the kitchen, so thats what all that glass is. its kind of hard to tell but the black thingy is a heart shaped ice cube tray. some cute "fabric" ok,ok, its kitchen towels, but who's to say.......
a blue and a clear set of little lights. some oh so pretty red crystals for the aforementioned chandelier. and of course the sweet little elephant!!
oh and i made one of my favorite meals the other nite and just happened to have the camera handy so took a photo.... and i figured as long as i am showing you the photo, might as well give you the recipe!
no chicken marsala
onion
mushrooms
dry red wine
hunts garlic diced tomatoes
egg noodles
saute the onions and mushrooms in olive oil. add some red wine, let the alcohol burn off and then add the tomatoes. meanwhile cook the egg noodles. serve the sauce over the noodles. enjoy! if you are a meat eater, you can add chunked up chicken breasts.
and because of course you cant have dinner without dessert!
this is my daughters dessert from a little cafe in the town where
my mom lives. and yes virginia that is chocolate mousse
under all that chocolate! yummmmmmmm
ooh that gives me a taste for mousse. has anyone out there ever had the chocolate mousse from whole foods? it is so rich my daughter cant eat it all in one sitting and THAT my friends is saying something!!!!
no creating today, just cleaning, cleaning, cleaning! but if you are good i will post photos of the art room when i get it all done. oh i almost forgot, i am starting a local sewing circle! how cute is that?? and i am hosting it here, hence the desire to get everything organized.
so i forgot to show a pic of a "chandelier" i got from a garage sale this summer. i spray painted it white and hung some crystals from it. but it needs something for the holidays without making it too xmasee if you know what i mean
i was thinking white candles, and maybe greenery or white fuzzy something or other...
it was suppose to snow or rain today and it really didnt do either. maybe a little light rain in the wee hours.shall i tell you how silly i am? i got a package today and i thought it was a book that i ordered from alibris. i opened it and i didnt recognize the book, so i thought they made a mistake so i emailed the company. not 2 seconds after my niece emails me asking if i got the book yet and was it in good condition as she wanted to leave feedback. duh! i couldnt remember having a book conversation with my niece but obviously she wanted me to read this book and sent it to me! now i had to go tell the bookstore that i was insane and didnt mean it...
well i hope all three of my readers liked the black fabric with multi flowers, because thats the one i chose!
i put pockets on both sides of the lining. one is sewn in half, the other is in 1/3, 2/3's. i didnt plan it, but my phone fits perfectly in the 1/3 pocket! yippee! i love having pockets for almost everything i carry in my purse.i tried a couple different ideas for embellishment, but the button closure is just too much with any other flowers or pins, so i may just try a little embroidery, or leave well enough alone.
i cant believe its already wednesday! boy the weeks are just flying by and before i know it, it will be that time again. i hate it when the xmas season is over, theres nothing to look forward to anymore...wouldnt you agree?
this is how my mantel looks right now but i may change it before long.i have a collection of cake plates and i was thinking it might be nice to put some up there with some decorations.
my, my it has been long hasnt it? i will try to make up for it without boring you to death.
well i have gotten some goodies from freecycle..... i cant wait to start cutting into them!! i have no idea what i am going to do with them, but there certainly are a lot of them. any ideas????????
i have a dilemna...i got this adorable skirt at the thrift store yesterday,
and am going to make a purse out of it, but cant decide on the lining
fabric..will you help me?
so which is your favorite combination?
you can email me at bigfatladybug@yahoo.com
because i know it stinks having to join vox to leave
comments, so i am happy to have you email
me your opinions! and hurry because i want to make this soon!!
i did go to the art vs. craft fair up in milw two weekends ago, and i have to say i was a little disappointed. comparing it to renegade in chicago was no comparison at all. i did get a sweet little purse tho.
of course i forgot to take a pic of it, but i will describe it for youit is black felted yarn with adorable yellow and red flowers on it. i will try to remember to
take a pic but dont count on it! hehe.
i am already in the holiday spirit, as if you couldnt tell by the fabric to the left! but i
have been decorating the house for the holidays already and have decided to just skip
thanksgiving decorating. i dont celebrate it anyhoo as its kinda centered around killing
a turkey, and ya know being a vegetarian...some how it just doesnt feel right.
so i have been putting out the snowmen. i love primitive type little snowmen, like they sell thru midwest of cannon falls.
this little guy is on my mantel. the letter he is standing next to is the last letter in the word believe, you know as in
faeries and santa....

next time i will use my own pattern i think, to be truthful, i did screw up the directions. i used fusible web instead of sew in...so that kind of altered my options! i feel bad, because i REALLY love this fabric and i dont remember where i got it!
well its autumn now, yippee! i love the change in seasons. i cant wait to be able to wear warm comfy clothes again, dont you?
ok, i know i only have two people that read this, but in case you know anyone that can help me....i bought some thick faux fur to make a blanket for the daughters bed. i need help with the back. i dont know what kind of fabric i should use, and how to attach it. i think i can sew it on my machine, as its not overly thick. so help me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
